A Backcountry Hut Pass, valid for 12 months, is available for the use of most Serviced and Standard huts. Great Walk hut passes, backcountry hut tickets, serviced alpine hut fees, and Backcountry Hut Passes can be purchased from Department of Conservation visitor and information centres. Hut tickets are also sold by some other retail outlets. The links to the left identify huts, by region, and indicate where bookings are required.

The summer season in most areas is 1 October to 30 April. Fees for school children 11 years and older are half the adult price. Children under 11 years may stay at huts free of charge.
Note: Facilities and services change. Always be self sufficient, have warm and waterproof clothing so that you're prepared for sudden changes in conditions, and carry a tent. |
